IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION FOR THE SEASON!!
POINTS TO REMEMBER:
This is part of our Standing First Aid Orders for our school:
IF YOUR CHILD HAS COLD SYMPTOMS:
If severe, exclude from school, that is: If their temperature is 100.5 F, or if they have a continual cough, thick, colored nasal drainage and tiredness, or joint and muscle aches KEEP THEM HOME, give more liquids, and medications as ordered by your doctor. THEY SHOULD STAY HOME UNTIL THEY ARE FREE OF FEVER WITHOUT MEDICATION FOR 24 HOURS.
IF YOUR CHILD HAS A COUGH:
If severe, exclude from school, that is, If the child is coughing so much that he cannot keep up with the class work, or is very tired from coughing all night, KEEP THEM HOME. COUGH DROPS ARE NOT ALLOWED in the ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. THIS IS A CHOKING HAZARD IN YOUNG CHILDREN.
The above guide is for your child’s health, the health of his/her classmates and teachers. Please follow them so that all our School children have the best chance possible to do as well as they can at school.
1. Children do best when they are well rested, properly fed, and supervised with bathing DAILY. We want to promote GOOD HEALTH HABITS that will last for their life. They need to brush their teeth before school, and use clean clothes daily, that are easy to pull on and off, as needed for their age and size.
2. If the illness symptoms noted above are present for more than 2 days, or get worse, it is ALWAYS recommended that you have the child see his/her doctor.
3. It is important to let the School Secretary or Nurse know if your child will be absent, so that we can notify their teachers. You must always send an excuse to the office after any absence, with the dates and reason for the absences.
Working together we can make sure your child gets the most learning and most fun out of school. Thanks for being a great partner in their education and in their good health, too. We’re here if you have any questions or concerns. Please call or stop in to see us.
In Good Health,
Your Child’s School Nurse
